Additional Info - This
is the original Flat As A Pancake album released in 1974 on Head East's own
Pyramid label. It sold 5,000 copies in midwest area record stores and
at concerts before the band signed with A&M Records and the album was
re-released on the A&M label. Though both versions of Flat As A
Pancake have the same songs, the sides have been reversed (side 1 of the
Pyramid label is side 2 on A&M, and side 2 of the Pyramid label is side
1 on A&M) .
The back of the album has a photo in the
lower left corner with a caption below that states, 'Flat As A Pancake'.
The photo shows the flat Illinois landscape that inspired the album
title. The lower right corner has a picture of the band.
Both pictures were taken near The Lake of the Woods about 10 miles
from Champaign, Illinois.
This release was issued in album and 8-track
formats only. All 5,000 albums and 500 8-tracks were sold and no further
copies were issued on the Pyramid label after signing with A&M Records.
The albums and 8-tracks are very rare and hard to find, though occasionally
one will surface on the internet on auction sites or on sites who specialize
in selling vinyl records. |
